Bayer Leverkusen are Bundesliga champions for the first time in their history ending Bayern Munich's dominance at the top of German football.

A thrilling second-half hat-trick from Florian Wirtz wrapped up a 5-0 victory over Werder Bremen with Granit Xhaka and Victor Boniface also on the score sheet.

Wirtz doubles his tally and makes it four. The fans are on the pitch, they can't wait to celebrate but they must clear the pitch and allow the game to end.

A second half that Leverkusen have completely dominated. They looked nervous when the game first kicked off but they have since shown just why they are about to make history. Just 10 minutes remain.

LEVERKUSEN AREN'T DONE YET

The hosts aren't taking their foot off the gas just yet. They want another goal and if it wasn't for a string of saves from Zetterer they'd have it.

That second goal seems to have deflated Bremen and Leverkusen are now pushing for a third to put them out of sight.

What a goal! Granit Xhaka with a sensational curling effort from 25 yards out that gives the Bremen goalkeeper no chance. Leverkusen are surely going to do it now.

The hosts are pushing for a second but should still be wary of the threat posed by Bremen.

The visitors have started the second half well not giving up despite going a goal behind.
