Bafana Bafana have officially secured their spot in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament after an unexpected turn of events in their qualifying group.

The team qualified after Congo’s surprise 3-2 loss to South Sudan on Thursday, which automatically advanced South Africa to the continental showpiece without having to play.

Bafana Bafana confirmed the news, stating: “Bafana Bafana have qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations without kicking a ball after South Sudan beat Congo this afternoon.”
