Bafana Bafana’s 1-0 victory against Eswatini in their final group stage match was not enough to secure their advancement to the semi-finals.

Bafana Bafana prepare for crucial showdown against Eswatini

Despite the win, Bafana Bafana finished second in Group A, behind Mozambique, who triumphed over Botswana with a 3-1 scoreline, thus progressing due to a superior goal difference.

The semi-final lineup will feature Mozambique, Group B winners Comoros, Group C winners Angola, and Kenya, who clinched the spot as the best runner-up with six points. Kenya edged out Bafana Bafana by a single point, leaving Helman Mkhalele’s side with five points and out of contention.

Reflecting on the tournament, Mkhalele expressed his disappointment.

“It is disappointing that we are not going to the next round, even though we won our last game.

“But these are some of the hard lessons one is going through right now. What we were supposed to do is make sure that we win our game, take our chances, and score more goals, but it wasn’t to be,” he said.
