The Bad Boys, Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett, are back as Will Smith and Martin Lawrence suit up for a new installment in the buddy cop franchise.
Sony Pictures posted a new trailer, which you can check out above, that follows Miami PD detectives Lowrey and Burnett as the dynamic duo find themselves looking to clear the name of their late police captain, who is framed for corruption and working with the cartel. The end of the trailer reveals that, at some point, the Bad Boys become criminals in the state.
Today's trailer reveals that Bad Boys: Ride or Die includes grit, intense shootouts, high-speed chases, and, most importantly, a ton of humor. Smith and Lawrence's performances in these films have always provided a chemistry and witty banter, and Bad Boys: Ride or Die seems no different.
We learned in 2020 that development of a fourth Bad Boys film had begun, though today's trailer provides us finally with the film's subtitle. The film is a direct sequel to the 2020 film Bad Boys For Life, which released to critical and commercial acclaim, earning $426.5 million at the box office to become one of the highest-grossing films in a year where COVID-19 caused upheaval in the world.
Like Bad Boys For Life, Ride or Die will be directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah. The duo also directed the unreleased Warner Bros. Discovery film Batgirl and directed and produced two episodes of the MCU series Ms. Marvel for Disney.
In our review of Bad Boys For Life, IGN wrote: "Bad Boys for Life doesn't reinvent the wheel but if you like the franchise you'll likely love this outrageous sequel."
