This is Rohit’s maiden Test hundred as skipper and ninth overall. Suryakumar Yadav (8) fell prey to Nathan Lyon’s spin after Virat Kohli departed on the first ball after Day 2 Lunch at Nagpur.  Todd Murphy claimed his 4th in form of Kohli. India were 151/3 at Lunch. A total of 28 overs were bowled in this session and India scored 74 runs out of it, while Australia extracted a couple of wickets. Todd Murphy has India on the hop. India dominated the first half of the session by not losing any wickets and Australia bounced back in the second half of the session to get rid of Ashwin and Pujara.

Earlier, come-back man Jadeja, playing his first international match after recovering from a knee injury, grabbed five wickets as India bowled out Australia for 177 in their first innings just after Tea. Ravichandran Ashwin grabbed three wickets while the pace duo of Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami picked a wicket each.

Openers Rohit, who hit nine fours and a six in his 69 ball unbeaten knock, and KL Rahul (20) then put up a 76-run opening stand. However, Rahul became spinner Todd Murphy’s (1/13) first international wicket as the Indian opener was sent packing in the penultimate over of the day.
