It was after his side's FA Cup victory against Chelsea that Guardiola moaned about the schedule.
He actually said that, had Manchester City not won, he would not have aired his frustrations. And, in truth, they should not have won.
Chelsea created enough chances to win two matches but, unfortunately for them, the vast majority of those chances fell to Nicolas Jackson who turned in one of the worst FA Cup semi-final performances in recent memory.
Bernardo Silva then struck the decisive blow in the 84th minute to send the holders into another final, sending Pochettino's side crashing out in the process.

Only five of the teams in the bottom half are in action across the next three days, but let's take a look at that part of the table anyway.
It is fair to assume that everyone from Brentford upwards is safe from relegation, but the bottom five are in for a nervy end to the season.

We were treated to a brilliant game when these two teams met back in October and, for much of it, it looked like it would be Chelsea taking all three points.
The home side benefitted from VAR intervention as it was deemed that William Saliba handled the ball inside the penalty. Up stepped Palmer to make it 1-0.
And within three minutes of the second half starting, Chelsea had a 2-0 lead after Mykhailo Mudryk's cross caught out David Raya and looped into his far corner.
But Arsenal, like a team fighting for the title, roared back into the contest. Declan Rice hammered into an empty net from 25 yards after a mistake from Robert Sanchez before Trossard ghosted in at the back post to make it 2-2 in the 84th minute.
A late Eddie Nketiah effort flashed across the face of goal, but the two teams were forced to settle for a point apiece.
Since his departure in 2019, Chelsea have struggled to find the creativity and brilliance that Eden Hazard delivered on an almost weekly basis.
But there have been shades of the Belgian in the way Palmer has played and that was more evident than ever in his taking apart of Everton eight days ago.
The 21-year-old looks every bit capable of finally ending Chelsea's wait for a player in Hazard's mould — as Simon Johnson wrote after that game.

Chelsea's last match was an FA Cup semi-final, but more on that later.
For now, we will take a look at their last Premier League match which saw them score six unanswered goals in the thrashing of Everton at Stamford Bridge.
A perfect hat-trick for Palmer within the opening half an hour of the game set the tone Nicolas Jackson made it 4-0, Palmer scored his fourth and Alfie Gilchrist got in on the act.
Some (very childish) handbags over which player would take the 64th-minute penalty aside, it was a very successful outing for Chelsea in a season that has been challenging for players and fans alike.

Arteta called Trossard his "little magician" after the win away to Wolves and, in recent weeks, it has been the Belgian who has been pulling rabbits out of hats to keep Arsenal's title bid alive.
Just as they looked to be running out of steam at Molineux, it was he who popped up with yet another important goal.
The Athletic's Jordan Campbell was in the West Midlands for the 2-0 win and he wrote about Trossard's growing influence at Arsenal — check it out below.

A Premier League defeat to Aston Villa last Sunday and a midweek Champions League exit at the hands of Bayern Munich left Arsenal battered, bruised and flat out on the canvas.
But Arteta's side dragged themselves to their feet and responded in the perfect way: With a win.
They needed a slice of luck on their travels to face Wolves on Saturday evening as Leandro Trossard's first-half opener was far from his cleanest connection but still found the back of the net after kissing the post.
Gary O'Neil's injury-hit side toiled and pushed for an equalised but it was Arsenal who got the all-important second goal through captain Martin Odegaard in the fifth minute of stoppage time.
Three points that helped the visitors back to the Premier League summit.

Five-time Premier League winner John Terry was announced as the newest inductee into the Premier League Hall of Fame yesterday, alongside former Manchester United and Newcastle striker Andy Cole.
Former Chelsea captain Terry said: "I am delighted and grateful to join the Premier League Hall of Fame. To be recognised by your peers and the supporters is special. For me it is the best league in the world, so I’m very proud of what I achieved alongside my team-mates.
"I fell in love with football at a young age and it’s emotional to reflect on the time spent playing.
"It has been an incredible journey. At the time you’re not thinking let’s do this to become part of the Hall of Fame, you just want to work hard and try to win and to be remembered as someone who gave their all for the team and the supporters.
"I’d like to thank my parents, Toni, Georgie & Summer for supporting me throughout my career and understanding the sacrifices as a family we had to make."

Speaking yesterday, Mauricio Pochettino was not confident of Palmer recovering in time for this evening's game.
"We need to assess tomorrow morning, but today no (he would not be able to play)," he said. "I don't believe he can be involved.
"We need to assess tomorrow and then decide, but even if he is good tomorrow, maybe it's not in a condition to play. We hope he recovers from this situation as soon as possible and can be involved again with the team."
Injuries have not been kind to Chelsea this season and they still have a lengthy list of absentees.
Wesley Fofana (knee), Reece James (hamstring), Romeo Lavia (hamstring), Christopher Nkunku (hamstring) and Lesley Ugochukwu (hamstring) have all been unavailable for long periods this season and remain out.
Meanwhile, it was confirmed yesterday that Malo Gusto (knee), Levi Colwill (foot) and Ben Chilwell (ankle) are all injured.
And the news that will hurt Chelsea fans most is the potential absence of Cole Palmer who is ill. As is Robert Sanchez, but that is of less importance.

Timber spoke after the game of his delight to be back playing football.
"I still don’t really know how to feel but just being out there feels amazing," he said.
"Even now, it feels strange for me as well. It’s amazing, it’s been eight months. I feel happy, feel blessed to be out there and it was nice scoring a goal as well.
"Even that felt strange! I didn’t realise I was even scoring a goal, because I don’t score a lot, maybe that’s changed since my rehab — let’s see! But it felt amazing, it felt like everything we worked for in the eight months out."

Jurrien Timber says goalscoring return for Arsenal after eight-month injury lay-off ‘feels amazing’

Last night, Jurrien Timber was back out on the pitch for the first time in an Arsenal shirt since suffering a serious knee injury in August.
He started for Arsenal's Under-21 side on their trip to face Blackburn Rovers. And it only took him seven minutes to become the star of the show as he curled a brilliant strike into the top corner from the corner of the penalty area.
Having come through unscathed, Timber was substituted at half time.
Injury problems have seemingly dried up at the perfect time for Arsenal.
They came through the weekend's game unscathed, but were without Takehiro Tomiyasu for that game. It is unclear whether the Japan defender will be involved later, but it was not understood to be anything serious so he may well return to the squad.
It leaves Jurrien Timber as the only definite absentee, but the Dutchman hit the comeback trail in some style yesterday evening...

Arsenal will need to make this place a fortress for what remains of this season if they are to lift the Premier League trophy.
A disappointing defeat to Aston Villa marked their last game here and the crowd was half empty by the time Ollie Watkins scored his side's second goal.
Through the good times and the bad, eh?
