Arteta loves Arsenal’s attacking mentality during ruthless scoring run

Arsenal seemingly prefer being part of the chasing pack than the pace-setters when it comes to the race for the title.

The Gunners crumbled under the weight of expectation at the back end of last season, but this time around, they sit third in the table ahead of the campaign's final furlong and are playing some of the best football of the Mikel Arteta-era. Arsenal's last three league games have seen the north Londoners net a staggering 15 goals.

Saturday night saw them bounce back from Wednesday's Champions League defeat at Porto in emphatic fashion. Arteta's side ran riot against Newcastle United and ended up 4-1 winners to keep their title hopes alive and continue to sit on the coat tails of Liverpool and Manchester City.

With that in mind, here are some of the main Gunners-related headlines on Monday, February 26.

Jorginho has explained how is he happy for Arsenal to be "in the shadows" when it comes to the race for the Premier League title this term.

"I like to be underdogs," Jorginho claimed, after his man-of-the-match performance against the Magpies. "Let people speak, we just need to stay humble and keep working hard in the shadows, keep pushing and keep believing.

"That is what we need to do, just keep pushing, pushing and then we will see where we are going to get but we are on the right path. We need to keep the momentum going and we can do that.

"Just working hard the way we are doing and keep believing, keep enjoying this journey together and I think that's the way that we need to go."

Arsenal have scored 19 goals from set-pieces so far this season, 13 of which have come from corners and Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has laid bare what he thinks makes them so difficult to defend.

After his side were battered by the Gunners, he told reporters: "I think you get a mixture of a good delivery and players that want to attack the ball, that's the start of combination

"Arsenal have that at the moment. We knew their corners, we knew they were coming, so we should've done better."

Howe did go on to add that he feels he knows how to stop Arsenal from having so much success from corners and bemoaned the fact his team didn't do it. He added: "To combat that you have to be really aggressive, aerially, and we didn't do that well enough."

Gunners legend Ian Wright has admitted he wished Arteta signed Cole Palmer before the ex-City star made the move to Chelsea last summer.

"I wish we did," the former Gunners striker admitted on his podcast, Wrighty's House. "I don't want to say who I'd have had him in for, but I'd have loved to have had Cole Palmer.

"I heard someone saying something that he's like [Riyad] Mahrez, but he's not that player, he has so much more."
