President Cyril Ramaphosa says that despite a "glitch" in the Electoral Commission's (IEC) system – which led to the leaking of the ANC's parliamentary candidate list on Friday – he remains confident that the institution will deliver a free and fair election.
He said: "They have given us an explanation, and we are satisfied with it. The list, having been released in the illegal way that it has been, is a matter that the IEC is dealing with. They will, in their own processes, find out exactly who did it, how did it happen, and why did it happen."
Speaking as ANC president during an election campaign in Ekurhuleni on Saturday, Ramaphosa revealed that investigations were under way after the list was circulated with candidate's ID numbers on Friday night.
