Notably defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns and sides like Chippa United have used it but along the way went back to having a single head coach.

Zwane, who was appointed at Usuthu this month spoke to iDiski Times senior writer Velile Mnyandu in the latest edition of the newspaper about the issue where he said it’s a case of different strokes for different folks.

However, he added that besides the fact that he and Vilakazi have an understanding and their belief in young talent, the responsibilities of a head coach are just as equal with those of an assistant.

“I know a lot of people view this co-coaching thing differently,” Zwane told iDiski Times.

“But I’ll tell you something, when a coach is heading or he’s leading he’s got his assistant.

“It is more like co-coaching. Yes, one has to take the responsibility which is the head coach but the assistants are also doing the responsibilities more or less the same. It’s just the title.

“I wouldn’t want to talk about other coaches because I don’t know what the dynamics were there but, in our case, I believe it’s going to work. It’s going to work, why? Because we know each other very well.

“We believe in youngsters; we believe in grinding results. We think alike on many other things that people might not know. So, we are already sharing the responsibilities no one wants to be the boss.

“It is not about being a boss. Nowadays there are no longer bosses, there are leaders. So, we meet, we share ideas, and we also engage each and every member of the technical team so that everyone is on the same page.

“You know it’s not about us. It’s about AmaZulu, that’s the key thing for us.

“It’s about the club. So, it’s not about who’s heading, who’s leading or who is doing what. That counts for nothing. What is important right now is for the club to go back to where it belongs, for the club to perform well, for the club to grow and we would have done our job if we get that right.”
