Zambia players celebrate reaching the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations finals with 3-0 win over Cote d Ivoire

The hosts took an early lead thanks to an own goal from Cote d'Ivoire defender Serge Aurier, who inadvertently scored in the 30th minute.

Leicester City striker Patson Daka doubled Zambia's lead just after halftime, while winger Kings Kangwa scored the third goal in the 55th minute to seal a comfortable win.

The Chipolopolo now lead Group H with 12 points after playing five games and have secured their spot in the AFCON finals.

Cote d'Ivoire, who had already qualified for the finals, are second in the group with 10 points.

With only one game remaining, Comoros and Lesotho are third and fourth in Group H with six and one point respectively.

Meanwhile, in Group E, Angola kept their hopes of reaching the finals alive with a hard-fought 2-1 win against Central African Republic on Sunday.

Angola are now second in the group with eight points after playing five rounds, level on points with Ghana, who will face Madagascar on Sunday.

The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2023) is scheduled to take place in Cote d'Ivoire in January 2024.
