Onana's Belgium Beat Germany; Gana Secures AFCON Qualification
Everton's Amadou Onana and Idrissa Gana Gueye completed 90 minutes on a winning night for their respective nations in Tuesday's international action.
Onana held his own deep in midfield for Belgium as they beat Germany 3-2 at the RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne in a friendly encounter.
The Belgian midfielder also captained his nation in the closing stages following the substitution of Kevin De Bruyne in the 80th minute.
Earlier in the evening at the Estádio do Zimpeto, Gana helped to secure qualification for next year's African Cup of Nations with a narrow 1-0 win over Mozambique.
Meanwhile at Hampden Park in Glasgow, Nathan Patterson earned his 13th international cap as he came on in the final stages to help Scotland secure a sensational 2-0 win over Spain. The result takes Patterson's nation top of their EURO 2024 qualifying group.
Elsewhere, James Garner completed 90 minutes for England Under-21s as they were edged 2-1 by Croatia.
At Under-17 level, two Club teammates went head-to-head.
Ishe Samuels-Smith and Martin Sheriff started for England and Netherlands respectfully, but it was the Dutch who narrowly secured the points in a 1-0 win.
Finally, George Morgan and Aled Thomas' Wales Under-17s came from behind to secure a point against Montenegro in a 2-2 draw.
The Welsh were down by two at the interval but Blues forward Morgan pulled one back five minutes into the second half before an equaliser was struck home four minutes from time.
