Sadio Mane's Senegal have been placed in the same hotel as their group opponents Cameroon for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Eyebrows have been raised following a decision made by CAF involving Sadio Mane's Senegal and another team heading to the Africa Cup of Nations.

The next AFCON is now fast approaching, with many participating sides having announced their final squads for the tournament.

Kicking off on Saturday, 13 January, the 34th edition of the showpiece will see Africa's heavyweights go toe to toe for the ultimate continental prize.

To date, 15 different countries have won the tournament, with Cameroon being the second-most successful side with five titles, behind only Egypt, who have won it seven times.

The Indomitable Lions are lined up in Group C alongside reigning champions Senegal, Guinea, and Gambia for the upcoming competition, and Cameroon are set to face the Lions of Teranga on 19 January, in one of the most exciting early fixtures of the tournament.

However, there is now an added element of drama ahead of that match as the two teams have been placed in the same hotel by CAF, despite being group opponents.

According to Senegalese newspaper City News, the decision was confirmed by African football's governing body on Monday and has since raised eyebrows ahead of the start of the competition.

It is said CAF will not reverse the decision unless one of the two countries' federations decide to move to another hotel at their own expense.

Despite the strange situation, though, it seems the Senegalese are not worried about the living arrangement, with a Senegalese Football Federation source telling the abovementioned publication: "Cameroon's presence with us in the same hotel is not a concern at all, this happened in the nations of Africa in the past, when Guinea was with us in the same hotel despite our competing in the same group."

The source added that that there will be no team crisis as a result, seemingly suggesting the Lions of Teranga will not opt to move to a different hotel.
