Despite the defeat, AC Milan showed character and determination. Paulo Fonseca set up his team in a 4-2-3-1 formation, aiming to exploit Leão's speed and Morata's precision. An injury to Christian Pulisic in the 38th minute forced the coach to bring on Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who added solidity to the midfield. In the second half, the Rossoneri tried to maintain possession and create chances, but Atalanta defended resolutely. The introduction of Tammy Abraham in the 78th minute brought fresh energy to the attack, but it wasn't enough to turn it around.
