More than 30 000 runners have entered this weekend's half and ultra Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon races in Cape Town.
On Saturday, 14 000 runners will head to the start line for the gruelling ultra marathon (56km) and on Sunday, 18 000 runners will tackle the half marathon.
The race is known as one of the most beautiful in the world, with the ultra marathon following a route from Newlands to Muizenberg, St James, Kalk Bay, around Chapman's Peak and into Constantia, before finishing in the shadow of Table Mountain at the University of Cape Town (UCT).
The 21.1km half-marathon runners will also start in Newlands, but will head through Claremont, Kenilworth, Wynberg and Constantia, before finishing at UCT.
Various roads in the city will be closed on both days to accommodate the race.

In addition, the City of Cape Town announced heightened security measures on race days, including the deployment of traffic services, metro police, law enforcement, Disaster Risk Management and the Fire and Rescue Service.
For the ultra on Saturday, temporary road closures will be in place from 03:30.

The half marathon on Sunday will impact roads in Rondebosch, Claremont, Kenilworth, Wynberg and Constantia.

The MyCiTi bus service in Hout Bay will be impacted by the road closures in Hout Bay on Saturday.
Route 109 will be diverted via Victoria Avenue and Princess Street, and Route 118 will turn around after the Valley Stop.

The City's urban waste management directorate said drop-off facilities in Simon's Town, Kommetjie and Hout Bay would be closed on Saturday due to the marathon.
Residents can use Sea Point for recyclables only, as well as the Coastal Park, Wynberg and Retreat drop-off facilities as alternatives.
The Fish Hoek Driving Licence Testing Centre will also be closed on Saturday.
