Brad Pitt's new Formula 1 film could be delayed with schedules for some actors changed just one week after he was allowed to shoot scenes at the British Grand Prix.

The movie's fictional APX GP team were given their own garage at Silverstone and both Pitt and his co-star Damson Idris were at the back of the grid for the formation lap before the British Grand Prix started, with the pair driving specially modified Formula 2 cars. However, the move has now been affected by Hollywood actors voting to strike.

Members of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) union, which includes Pitt, voted to join members of the Writers Guild of America in going on strike last week for the first time since 1980.

And it is understood that amidst the ongoing union action, some schedules have been changed on Pitt's F1 blockbuster as a result. "Brad had really enjoyed himself, but he is definitely a very loyal member of the union," a source close to the production is quoted as saying by NBC News.

Filming is also set to take place at a number of other Grands Prix this season. While the likes of George Russell, Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, who is helping produce the film, have welcomed the actor's presence at races, defending champion Max Verstappen is less of a fan.

Speaking after Pitt and director Joseph Kosinski appeared at a drivers meeting ahead of the British Grand Prix, Verstappen said: "I think they're going to use some shots of everybody, in terms of onboard cameras and stuff. I completely can't be bothered with this.

"In the end, a film is always made to create a little bit of a show in it. Because yes, of course, it won't all be real. But I think it's all fine. I'm actually not that much into it."

Hamilton, meanwhile, said Pitt and Kosinski's appearances made for "probably the best drivers' briefing we've ever had", while Russell said: "I think it's one of those when you when you see a worldwide superstar for the first time, it's quite surreal.

"And then it's only when you get to be with those individuals – whether it was Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt or Roger Federer, whoever we've been fortunate enough to meet – you recognise they're just normal human beings. He was joking around and having a good time and just kind of one of the boys, really."

Ferrari star Leclerc added: "It's fun, it's a new face and definitely quite unexpected to see Brad in the drivers' briefing. They did a bit of a brief of what to expect for the movie and it just is very exciting. I'm looking forward to seeing it. Nice guy."
