US singer Ashanti announces pregnancy and engagement to Nelly

Ashanti and Nelly are making it official after the Foolish singer announced her pregnancy and engagement with the US rapper.

This comes seven months after the couple revealed they were in a relationship again. They dated for more than a decade after meeting in 2003 at the Grammy awards.

"This new year of my life is such a blessing full of love, hope, and anticipation," Ashanti told Essence.

"Motherhood is something that I have looked forward to, and sharing this with my family, fiancé, and loyal fans, who have been so supportive of my career, is an amazing experience," she added.

She also mentioned her pregnancy in an Instagram video; there is a moment when someone asked what she needs and Ashanti replied, "I'm gonna need about nine months."

This will be Ashanti's first child and Nelly's fifth child.

Ashanti also revealed to Essence that she and Nelly are co-owners of the diagnostics company Proov.

Ahead of confirming their rekindled romance, the couple were spotted in public and at events together. At the 2023 VMA's, Ashanti had a purse with her and Nelly's faces printed on it.

"Yeah. We cool again," Nelly said about their relationship, on Boss Moves With Rasheeda.

He continued:

"I think it surprised both of us, though. It wasn't anything that was, like, I don't think planned. I think we both was pretty much doing what we do. But sometimes, being separate, you understand one another more."
